Hello and welcome!
I started my journey into psychology always being interested in the things that shape our individual experiences. Following my Psychology studies at college, I began volunteering as a counselor with ChildLine, a UK-based children’s charity that offers support for anyone under 19 with any issue they’re going through. Through this, I began to observe the value of compassion, empathy, and deep connections with others.
I received both my undergraduate and post-graduate Doctoral Degrees from Lancaster University, England. All of my pre- and post-doctoral experience has been working with children, teens and families. I have occupied Licensed Psychologist positions in both community and inpatient settings, working for the National Health Service and State Services. I was fortunate enough to work in Malawi, Africa for a month to learn more about community approaches to mental well-being and the importance of ‘umoza’ (meaning togetherness). I strongly align with trauma-informed care and how this can be used to understand our experiences, as well as ways in which we can grow through, and despite, the challenges we face. The connections we have with others have the power to shape many aspects of our lives.
I am a white woman born in South Africa but spent most of my childhood and adulthood in England. In 2018, I moved to WA State with my husband. I absolutely love this part of the world and enjoy being outdoors, hiking and paddleboarding. Mindfulness for me is doing puzzles, cooking and being out in nature.
My philosophy of therapy is that you are an expert in your own experiences. Together, with my expertise and training, we will develop a plan to understand the things you’re struggling with, ways to make sense of this and overcome it. I use a holistic, integrative approach, meaning I draw on lots of different therapeutic approaches/modalities to support your well-being journey.
